A day of Scottish Gaelic language and song

The Gaelic Society of Toronto and the University of Toronto Celtic Studies Program will be holding a day of Scottish Gaelic language and song on March 28, 2009.

The guest teachers for this date are as follows:
· Renowned Gaelic singer Catherine-Ann MacPhee
· Dr. Kenneth Nilsen, department head of Celtic Studies at St. Francis Xavier University
· Oighrig Keough, a native Gaelic speaker & long-time Gaelic educator

The Canan agus Oran day will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
at Alumni Hall, 121 St. Joseph Street (Saint Michael’s College, Univ of Toronto), The day will comprise of language classes & a song workshop. Classes will be offered at the Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced levels. If there is enough interest, a Beginner II (between beginner and intermediate) session will also be offered.

Books from Siol Cultural Enterprises (a distributor of Gaelic books) will be available for sale. Additionally, the Gaelic film “Seachd” will be shown over the lunch break for those that bring their lunch and would like to watch it.

The cost for each day is $40, free to U of T students,
$20 to non-U of T students and free to native speakers.
Early Bird Registration – Registrations (including cheque or money order) received two weeks in advance (March 13, 2009 ) pay $27, non-U of T students $15.
