Alexander Cowper Hutchison

Born in Montreal of Scottish ancestors in April 2, 1838 he became a leading architect. Some of buildings are; his The Bank of Montreal Dome, The Lord Strathcona’s residence, The Redpath museum, LaPresse Building, and the MacDonald College Buildings.

His family from Ayrshire, Scotland is one of the oldest of Montreal’s Scottish families.

Hutchison Street was named after this family.
