Bread Pudding

1 egg
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 ½ cups warm milk
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 cup cubed bread (stale or dried)
¼ cup dried currants
2 teaspoons butter
METHOD:

1/4 cup Sugar
2 teasp. Cream of Tartar
1 teasp. Salt
1 teasp. Baking Soda
3 teasp. Baking Powder
3/4 cups Shortening
1 1/4 cups Milk (or a bit less)
