Canso Causeway

Seanfhaclan – Gaelic Saying; The world will pass away but love and music will endure.

THE CANSO CAUSEWAY
We shall hear the pipers coming
From the hills and from the glens,
We shall hear the stirring music oer the miles,
When they gather on the mainland
Down by the Canso Strait,
To march across the causeway to the isle.

Be silent, O ye pipers,
That come down from hill and glen,
Today we tribute pay to Angus L.
For our beloved chieftain
Did not live to see the day
When we march across the causeway to the isle.

Step boldly now, ye pipers,
Be unmuffled every drum,
For Cape Bretons honored son would have it so;
Let sorrow be forgotten –
Replace it with a smile,
When we march across the causeway to the isle.

Oh, the music of the bagpipes
Will be wafted by the breeze,
And the fishermen will listen with a smile;
Oh, there’s magic in the music
