Fortress of Louisburg Ghosts

July 8, 2009

It is said that at least four ghosts haunt the Fortress of Louisburg.

A ghost of a small child accompanied by screams of men in battle, cannon and gun fire, cries for its mother. Another, the ghost of a nurse is seen weeping as she walks the grounds by the old hospital. Another very helpful ghost, a sea captain, has greeted people. He has stopped people from falling on stairs and passed them during the day suddenly just to disappear.

However, all ghosts are not as friendly as the sea Captain. A violent poltergeist is haunting the king’s bastion bakery. It has been known to move big bread holders which weigh approximately 300 pounds each. It moves and damages property there as well as locking doors.

Keep an eye open for them when next you visit.
