John “Sandy” Alexander MacDonald

John Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, age 80, Long Point, passed away on June 1, 2011 after an evening surrounded by his loving family.

Sandy was born to the late Alex S and Annie Cassie (Cameron) MacDonald of Port Hood on September 23, 1930.

In 1972 he married Kaye Bowden and they settled in Long Point where Sandy worked for the Port Hawkesbury Vocational School.

Sandy was known for his exceptional generosity, his big heart, his devotion to his family and for his stories. One of his last evenings was spent entertaining the nurses of the Inverness Hospital with stories of the adventure of his youth.

Sandy is survived by his beloved wife Kaye; his sister Catherine (Ambrose Campbell), Judique; several nieces and nephews; special nephew-in-law Blair; great-nieces and nephews; and by his dear friend Donnie MacInnis who contributed immensely to his care and comfort over the past several years.

He was predeceased by his parents; by dear sisters Alexina, Marie and Margaret; and beloved brother Johnny and was looking forward to beginning the next part of his spiritual journey reunited in their beloved company.

Resting Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in the Community Room of the Judique Fire Department. Funeral Mass will be offered Monday at 11:00 a.m. from St. Andrew’s Church , Judique with Rev. Alan Mac Millan presiding, burial at a later date in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Port Hood.

Family flowers only , memorial donations may be made to the Judique Fire Department.
