It is with sadness that we announce the Charles Ross Macdonald, age 79, of Port Hawkesbury, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014.

Born in Inverness on February 24, 1935, he was a son of the late Charles and Veronica Macdonald. He spent his early years in Inverness and most of his adult life in Toronto and then Port Hawkesbury. He retired from Stora Forest Industries and was a member of CEP 972. He was kind-hearted and giving. He enjoyed Celtic culture, music, songs and the Gaelic Language. He was active member of AA and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Port Hawkesbury Hawks Midget Baseball Team, the 1954 Maritime Champions. His interest in sports continued with his loyalty to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays.

Ross is survived by his brother, Kevin (Therese); sister, Jo-Anne; nieces, Jennifer and Maria and grandniece, Neelah. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating. Reception to follow. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date.

Our thanks to the staff of St. Martha’s and Strait Richmond Hospitals for their kindness and attentiveness to Ross and the family over the past 2 weeks.
