Morning warmth with Scottish Porridge

Ingredients for two people:
1 cup water
1 cup milk
2.5 tablespoons medium ground oats
pinch of salt

Method:
Place water and milk in a (double boiler) pot and bring to a rolling boil. Add oatmeal slowly, stirring with a wooden spoon. Continue to stir until it returns to the boil. Reduce heat. Cover pot. Simmer for 15 minutes over low heat stirring frequently. Add salt and simmer for another 5 minutes or more. It should be thick but you should be able to pour it. Place hot porridge in a bowl. Sprinkle with brown sugar or dribble with corn syrup, and cover with milk
