William Rankin Stubbert, 1928-2011

Stubbert, William Rankin, 83, of Antigonish passed away on August 9, 2011, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital with his family at his side.

Born in Inverness, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late John D. and Mary Sarah (Rankin) Stubbert.

Rankin worked for many years in Halifax with the Department of National Defence.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Bell Stubbert (nee McInnis); son, Clary (Nancy Nunn-Stubbert), Heatherton; granddaughter Abby; sisters, Edna (late Vernon) Jordan, Boston, Anna (late Bill) Walker, British Columbia, Kay (Cyril) Sampson, Halifax, and Janet (late Jerry) Knox, Montreal; and sister-in-law Kaye Stubbert, Dartmouth.

He was predeceased by his brothers Ambrose and John (Pat) and sister, Evelyn (Greg MacMillan).

Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.  Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ninian’s Cathedral on Friday at 10:00am.  Burial in St. Ninian’s Cemetery at a later date.
